Words are powerful yet a lot of people take it to be common. It tears down strong men and bury them in the mud. Words dries up the fresh lungs and shatter it on rock without mercy if not used rightly. Some of the parents, guidance and councilor or teachers neglect this fact when they handle the children within their care. The words we speak to our children stick to their mind and can't be easily removed, that is more reasons we have to be kind with the words we speak to our children. The words we speak to our children either builds them positively or destroys them. But our children don't need the destructive words rather the encouraging ones. When we speak abusive words to our children, it puts them away from us, wash away the relationship between them and us as a flowing river as such they only obey us because of fear not for respect sake. Something is going on at Herbert Macaulay library. A Nigerian, Olawunmi Treasures Bayode is about to break the Guinness World Record in the category of the Longest Reading Marathon (Read Aloud) He’s attempting to read for 120 straight hours. The current world record is 113 hours 15 minutes, completed by a man from Nepal. He has done over 85 hours of reading out loud now. And he is still reading till Saturday. His objective is to raise a campaign to improve the dwindling reading culture of Nigerians. He is supported by Lagos State Ministry of Education and GTBank. This is in line with the Ministry’s drive to improve the reading culture of Lagosians through the Eko Reads Initiative.
Preparing to speak in this topic I decided to check what education means and this is what I found; Education is the process of facilitating learning, or the acquisition of knowledge, skills, values, beliefs, and habits. I was astonished when I saw the last part of the definition "the acquisition of knowledge, skills, values, beliefs, and habits." I also went back to my bag to check my degree graduation video only to hear the vice chancellor of my school say that "I have been found worthy both in character and in learning. And I asked myself, who taught you character in this school, even the learning. We just rushed to class to take attendance.
