WOMEN ARE THE POWERHOUSE
WOMEN ARE THE POWERHOUSE
Hmmmmmm
I know some men here would want to shoot me down to dead before I land but then hear me out.
Take your time to take this journey with me.
Driving down to Ekwulobia from Ogidi through Nnobi, I stumbled to the sight of one side of the market where there were bunch of women.
I asked my friend to pull over so I could check out some few things in the market.
Not knowing why I said so, he pulled over and step down straight to the market (Afor Nnobi).
I walked through the area they where selling red oil, out of approximately 30 people selling red oil, only 3 where men.
I also walked down to the ice fish and red meat side, I also found out that it's just almost the same thing.
It took me close to 30minutes to satisfy my curiosity that women are taking the lead in virtually everything in that market.
I made a mistake and I asked some of them some questions.
Questions like;
1. Why are you doing this business?
2. Is there no other thing you could do?
3. If your husband ask you to stay at home to be paying you, will you welcome it?
You will be amazed the kind of answers that I got.
Honestly the first woman threw me off balance with her answers.
Me: Good afternoon ma, how are you?
Nkiru nwanyi mmanu: I'm doing great and we are selling.
Me: Please ma I have some few questions to ask you concerning your business, hope you don't mind.
Nkiru nwanyi mmanu: Nsogbu adiro (i.e no problems)
Me: Please ma, I would want to know why you do this business?
Nkiru nwanyi mmanu: Hahahaha, Nnaa, I am doing this business primarily for the sake of my family's stomach and studies while my husband takes care of other things.
Me: Ok, is there no other thing to do than this?
Nkiru nwanyi mmanu: Nnaa, I do too many things to make ends meet. On Afor day, I sell my red oil in gallons then ordinary days people come to my house to buy but I also have poultry and farm too.
Me: What If your husband ask you to stay at home to be paying you, will you welcome it?
Nkiru nwanyi mmanu:. Hahahahahahaha, my beloved husband can't tell me that, we are both hunting for the same chief priest.
This is the tip and same answers I got from about 11 women I interviewed in that market that day.
I came out and drove out with my friend, worried out the encounter I just had in that market.
The following day, I dropped in to the ministry of Education Anambra state. Where I went to check out a different thing.
On getting to the reception, there where about 6 persons on uniform and 5 where women and a man. And the argument of yesterday pumped back into my small skull.
I intentionally started counting the number of women I saw in those offices as I wait for the person I came to see.
Unfortunately to my curiosity, there were over 47 plus people in that block and 36 where women and 11 men.
I walked in to a restaurant after a long day and just like every other places I have gone before, 7 people in total. 5 ladies and 2 guys.
As we were heading home, my friend dropped by Roban stores to pick up bread, on getting there, the number of women out numbered that of men.
I don't understand!!!
Women are actually taking the whole place and shouldering also so much responsibilities just like the men.
Women are just every where now trying to make the difference and help their husbands and take care of their various families.
They do all these things and still come home to be wives and mothers.
I just don't get it
They are simply the Powerhouse.
When you walk in to any organisation, please take your time to check the number of women there.
When you get to the market take your time to compare the number men and women there.
When you get to industries take your time to check the number of women there, not to mention banks because they have just dominated there.
Be conscious of this fact and confirm for yourself.
Many organisations, industries, schools, boards and many other spheres would tell you that they grow because of women.
I might be wrong but you can check for yourself.
They are just everywhere and even the places you least expect them to be.
I just believe that without them lots of things would be missing.
I just realized that without them Hunger would have killed in billions.
And I now understand this saying "Men lead the world, women lead men"
Women are the POWERHOUSE
I am just curious
