THE MAKING OF A LEADER

Most times in my journey of speaking to people and learning leadership, I have come to realize that you can't lead if you don't know.

Permit me to say it this way, that if you don't know yourself and understand yourself, you can't lead anyone!

You can only manage people and that is not leadership.

Self awareness in Leadership is the knowledge and understanding of your own character.

Self awareness is the understanding and knowing the origin/content/traits of your character

This means to uncover the hidden treasure about your hidden you by the creator (God).

A wise man once said "the strength of a leader is based on his self awareness or discovery."

When a man discovers himself then he can lead with purpose and vision.

So a leader first discovers himself and leads himself through the discovery he had made, this defines his core values and message.

John C. Maxwell in his words defined a leader as "One who knows the way, goes the way and shows the way".

If you desire to lead people, you must first lead yourself then from your experience of yourself, you lead others.

Our greatest enemy is not people or the devil but ourselves, if we can discover or learn how to lead ourselves we won't rule or manipulate people.

Stand up, pick your pen and paper and start the journey of discovering YOU.

On a several occasions I have seen parents rain words on their children as though they are not the actual parents of these kids. I have also seen Managers in the work place shout and rain words on their secretary or colleagues for a little mistake. Sometimes also you see such between friends as they say all manner of negative words to their friends in the name of anger. Hmmmmm... After fighting my colleague in the office with words, she became emotionally drained that she couldn't do anything anymore. She just wanted to hide her tears but she couldn't. She walked up to me and told me that she was sorry but she is going to resign from the job because she can't stand those words from me. SPEAK KINDLY TO YOUR KIDS

Words are powerful yet a lot of people take it to be common. It tears down strong men and bury them in the mud. Words dries up the fresh lungs and shatter it on rock without mercy if not used rightly. Some of the parents, guidance and councilor or teachers neglect this fact when they handle the children within their care. The words we speak to our children stick to their mind and can't be easily removed, that is more reasons we have to be kind with the words we speak to our children. The words we speak to our children either builds them positively or destroys them. But our children don't need the destructive words rather the encouraging ones. When we speak abusive words to our children, it puts them away from us, wash away the relationship between them and us as a flowing river as such they only obey us because of fear not for respect sake.
